Our mission is to seek out environmentally friendly products that will help you to go further and tread lighter.
Considering our own daily impact on the environment is absolutely crucial. Reducing our waste, lowering carbon and considering what we eat are steps we should all take. But for those who, like us, have a passion for adventure and to explore, we look for products that will allow us to go further without contributing to the increasing damage being caused to the natural environment we love so much #LeaveNoTrace
Promoting responsible travel, adventure and sustainability, and appealing to those in pursuit of an active lifestyle we provide long lasting and durable re-usables, designed to minimise the requirement for single-use plastics. We also support those manufacturers using new innovative technologies to reuse plastic waste, and offer a growing number of products made from recycled plastic bottles and other recycled materials. Not forgetting of course, our core range of reusable kitchen and bathroom products, and vegan toiletries.
Globally, the issue of plastic pollution has dominated the media during recent years, and yet still the production of single-use plastic is on the rise. Approximately 300 million tonnes of plastic is produced each year, and around half of that is classed as 'single-use'. How did we become a 'throw away' society and what can be done to turn it around? As consumers we have the power to make a difference everyday, by choosing reusable products, with less waste, and made from recycled or biodegradable materials.
Here at OceanClear we have organised river cleans in our local town of Clitheroe on behalf of the Surfers Against Sewage Big Spring Clean - Summit to Sea. We also join beach cleans along the Lancashire Coastline as often as we can.
We recently enrolled on the Offset Earth project, which means our monthly donation contributes to tree planting and supporting global projects actively reducing atmospheric CO2 levels. Our involvement means we will offset our own carbon footprint throughout the year.
Our Founder Fiona Orrell, is a Water Logger for We Swim Wild. #WaterLoggers are a team of regional representatives nationwide who carry out clean-ups of their local waterways, and collect water samples for testing levels of micro-plastics on behalf of scientific research carried out at Bangor University. Fiona also works as an Adventurer Organiser for Love Her Wild, a UK based community led by Bex Band, which supports women in adventure whilst putting conservation efforts at the forefront of their expeditions.
In 2019 we ran a drop-off location for a number of TerraCycle UK's recycling programmes. As volunteers we collected over 500kg of recycling whilst raising money for our nominated charities Surfers Against Sewage and Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue. We were also proud to support the initial set-up of the Refill scheme from City to Sea here in Clitheroe last year. Please note our TerraCycle drop-off point is now closed, to allow us to focus on moving forward with our business.
