Refill is a national scheme launched by non-profit organisation City to Sea. Their aim is simple... and that is to encourage people to carry a reusable water bottle.
A million plastic bottles are bought around the world every minute and it's predicted that figure will rise by another 20% by 2021. Here in the UK, the average household uses 480 plastic bottles each year, but only recycles around half of them. It's estimated that approximately 16 million plastic bottles aren't being recycled in the UK every year.
Shortly after launching our OceanClear plastic free online store, we joined Refill as local Refill Champions. This means that as volunteers we approach business owners in our local community, and encourage them to enroll as Refill Stations. Becoming a Refill Station is really easy, your business details are simply loaded on to the official Refill App, and we place one of the blue Refill stickers in your window. This means members of the public can feel welcome to ask for a Refill of their water bottle at your premises.
